Sound Transit Operations and Maintenance Facility East
Hart Crowser provided geotechnical and environmental support for siting of the operations and maintenance satellite facility for the Sound Transit 2 expansion plan. Work also included advancing explorations, providing preliminary geotechnical engineering design for the selected 28-acre Bellevue site, and contributing to the preparation of the design-build procurement documents, including the hazardous material specifications. Hart Crowser also contributed to the Geology and Soils section of the Draft Environmental Impact Statement. The new facility will have vehicle storage tracks; mostly single-story buildings and sheds for cleaning, inspecting, and repairing transit vehicles, and for swapping out units and components of these vehicles. Four different design and layout alternatives were initially identified for this study, and the preferred alternative has now been selected.
