Rock Slope Stability Evaluation, Chaglla Central Hydroelectric Project

Constructora Norberto Odebrecht S.A.

Andes Mountains, Peru

Chaglla

Hart Crowser provided rock slope assessment and engineering for two critical access roads to reach a 200-meter tall, concrete-faced rockfill dam being constructed in the Andes Mountains of Peru. During construction of a primary access road, a rock slope failed, resulting in a fatal injury to a worker. The general contractor requested rapid design of stabilization measures of the affected roadway section, along with other areas of concern. Hart Crowser quickly mobilized to the site and collected geotechnical and geological information which were used to develop stabilization options for the contractor.
