King Abdullah Financial District
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
Hart Crowser provided geotechnical and hydrogeologic design for the first two parcels constructed at the King Abdullah Financial District in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Both projects were designed to achieve LEED certification. The site required shoring, foundation, and dewatering design for deep excavations in fractured limestone. We recommended specific foundation preparation and testing requirements, and planned for a long-term rise in the water table.
Over time, about 50 million square feet of mixed use space (office space, housing, and retail) will be developed in the KAFD, which will house the headquarters of the Capital Market Authority, the Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul), and banks and financial institutions.
