Hyatt House construction

Hart Crowser provided geotechnical engineering design and construction oversight for a four-story hotel (formerly Sierra Suites). We evaluated an approach that incorporated sustainable design by using 850 tons of crushed, recycled glass as drainage fill behind the subgrade walls. Hart Crowser completed laboratory tests to simulate the performance of the recycled glass in the field. Its physical size distribution was tested before and after compaction, confirming that if the recycled glass was used would it would function as intended for the life of the structure.
