Emergency Water Supply Well
Seattle Children’s Hospital
Hart Crowser located a groundwater source and developed an emergency water supply well for the hospital. The project involved finding a water supply in an urban environment with no traditional hydrogeologic data below 300 feet. A productive water-bearing zone was located at 650 to 700 feet. We used computer modeling to evaluate the capture zone of the well. Aquifer testing and water quality sampling indicated that the water source was of sufficient quantity and quality to meet the emergency drinking water and firefighting needs of the hospital.
