Hart Crowser is providing National Environment Policy Act (NEPA) project management services for this programmatical multi-state environmental impact statement (EIS) for 14 federal dams operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Bureau of Reclamation. The EIS purpose and need as developed by the action agencies (Corps of Engineers, Bureau of Reclamation, and BPA) is to coordinate water management functions that meet multiple purposes including flood control, navigation, hydropower, irrigation, fish and wildlife conservation, recreation, municipal and industrial water supply, and water quality. The EIS responds to a U.S. District Court mandate to conduct an EIS analysis with alternatives that ensures dam operation will not likely jeopardize the continued existing of endangered or threatened species or result in destruction or adverse modification of critical habitat, including identifying mitigation measures to address impacts to listed species. One of the alternatives will include breaching one or more of the Snake River dams. Hart Crowser is providing a diversity of NEPA services under this contract.
