Denny Substation and Distribution System
Power Engineers/Seattle City Light
Hart Crowser provided geotechnical engineering services for Seattle City Light’s first new electrical power substation in 30 years. It will serve businesses and residents in the commercial areas and residential neighborhoods throughout City Light’s service territory, as well as alleviate the distribution congestion in South Lake Union, Cascade, Denny Triangle, Uptown, Belltown and First Hill. It will provide the higher level of reliability and electrical load density needed by City Light’s major medical centers, bio-tech research facilities, and high tech industries, and by current and future manufacturing and innovative entrepreneurial industries. Our work included geotechnical investigations and engineering for the new substation as well as networks of distribution lines and deep vaults.
