Silver Cloud Inns & Hotels
Seattle, Washington
This project involved geotechnical design of a nine-story hotel with underground parking. Some of the latest construction techniques such as deep soil mixing, subgrade improvement, a groundwater cutoff wall, and a direct-push sheet pile system were used during construction.
Costco International
Taichung, Taiwan
Hart Crowser provided geotechnical engineering and hydrogeological consultation for the design and construction of the fourth Costco store in Taiwan. The new store occupies a full city block. We worked with the owner's US and local design teams to provide recommendations for foundations, shoring, construction dewatering, and permanent drainage. We designed and supervised a full-scale pumping test at the project site for evaluating the feasibility of a permanent drainage system for the building. The innovative hybrid foundation and drainage system provided the most cost-effective solution for the development project.
Washington State Department of Ecology
Bellevue, Washington
Hart Crowser provided geotechnical engineering design and construction oversight for a four-story hotel. We evaluated an approach that incorporated sustainable design by using 850 tons of crushed, recycled glass as drainage fill behind the subgrade walls. Hart Crowser completed laboratory tests to simulate the performance of the recycled glass in the field. Its physical size distribution was tested before and after compaction, confirming that would it would function as intended for the life of the structure.
University Village Partnership
Seattle, Washington
Hart Crowser has provided geotechnical engineering services over the past 15 years to develop University Village into the premier urban shopping village in Seattle.
